Jadon Montero discusses his number one piece of advice when you find yourself a victim of a suspicious communication: go direct. This is the number one way to protect yourself from cybersecurity attacks. For example, if you get a suspicious text message or phone call naming one of your loved ones (in a ransom-type situation), hang up and call that loved one directly.

Similarly, if you get an email telling you to pay an invoice, or update your password, rather than clicking on a link in that email, go directly to the website mentioned (in a new window) and check to see if something needs to be updated. This is particularly important in time-sensitive requests, where your adrenaline is high and the risk also seems high. Stay calm and go direct.
